This Excelsa takes two paths: our roast for your brewer, or green beans for your own roaster. Natural processing dries the fruit around the seed before it’s removed. Origin, process and roast all help shape the cup.

Excelsa is currently treated as its own species, Coffea dewevrei. Older sources often grouped it with Liberica. Another part of coffee’s family to explore.
Excelsa has a much smaller commercial presence than arabica or robusta. It’s a coffee many people haven’t had the chance to try.
Some tested Excelsa coffees have shown lower caffeine levels. We haven’t lab-tested this lot, so we’re not putting a number on it. This is not decaf.
As coffee-growing conditions change, researchers are studying Excelsa’s potential to give growers more options.

Some tested Excelsa coffees have shown lower caffeine levels. Those results are not a measurement of this Quảng Trị lot. We haven’t lab-tested it and are not assigning a caffeine-reduction percentage. This coffee is not decaf.
Excelsa is being studied as part of a more diverse future for coffee. That interest does not establish that this particular coffee is drought-proof, disease-proof or has a smaller environmental footprint. We are not claiming quantified water, carbon or other environmental savings for this lot.
